Russia’s Caballeros y Damas del Gran Orden del Vino

The fourth induction ceremony was recently held to welcome five new members into the Caballeros y Damas del Gran Orden del

Vino. This prestigious group celebrates those trade professionals who have gone above and beyond to promote Spanish wine in Russia. The ceremony was held at Moscow’s Adri BBQ and a special menu prepared by chef Adrián Quetglas was served.

The new members are Benjamin Graber, a leading Russian investor in Spain’s wine industry, with two wineries, in Rioja and Navarre, and Yuliana Grigorieva, who has been promoting wine for many years through the Wine People school and was also previously named Russia’s Best Sommelier. Another new member is Irina Fomina, known as the “First Lady of the Russian Wine Business;” she is the chairman and primary shareholder of one of the largest importers, MGB. Denis Roudenko, a leading wine blogger and journalist known for supporting value for money as a primary factor in choosing wine, also joined the Orden. He has written many articles about Spanish wine on his blog. And finally, Anatoly Korneev, the Vice-Chairman and Founder of Simple, the largest wine importer in Russia, was inducted.

Russia is an increasingly interesting market for Spanish producers, and data from ICEX shows that bottle exports from Spain to Russia increased in 2018 by 50%. Many Spanish winemakers were recently at the Prodexpo trade fair to promote their products.
