Spanish Food Feast Kicks Off in Athens, Greece

Guests at the Hilton Athens, in the Greek capital, are in for a treat this June. From the 7th to the 16th,

the hotel will host an event called “Spain on your plate” at its Byzantino restaurant. The event is being co-organized by Foods and Wines from Spain.

The goal is to enable guests to experience Spanish culture and gastronomy. To that end, award-winning tapas chefs Álvaro Villasante and Ager Urigüen will prepare a selection of traditional dishes for the Spanish tapas bar and buffet.

Highlights from the menu will include Galician-style octopus, ham croquettes, Asturian bean stew, Rioja-style potatoes, chorizo sausage in cider, Spanish omelet, gazpacho, paella, garlic prawns, and migas. For dessert, guests will be able to try rice pudding, crema catalana, Santiago tart and leche frita. Spanish wines from Rioja and Bodegas Torres will also be available.

Said Álvaro García-Rosales Sanz, the Commercial and Economic Affairs Director at the Spanish Embassy in Greece, “We want to present Spanish products in Greece and highlight their value,” according to news.gtp.gr. Meanwhile, the hotel aims to highlight Spain as “a leader in the quality of life, happiness and life expectancy of its citizens, with the Mediterranean diet, its golden summers, and open, smiling people.”
